This isn’t the best option if you are needing internet for things that use a lot of bandwidth like gaming and video watching. It is sufficient if all you need it for is browsing the internet. 

3. WifiMap

WifiMap is an app you can download that will provide you with free wifi worldwide.  From the busiest cities to some of the most remote areas you will be able to access free wifi with the touch of a button.

One feature of the app also gives you access to password protected wifi accounts in return for watching videos. This is a go-to if you are on the go a lot and need internet.

Access is another income-based program so not everyone will qualify. One member of the household must qualify for SNAP.

If eligible, Lifeline is a federal program that lowers the monthly cost of phone or internet. If you qualify for the program you will have to choose which service you would like assistance with. Lifeline will apply $9.95 to either you phone or internet bill each month. 

You may be able to piggyback programs with Lifeline for additional savings.
